This is a working draft. The cookie list will be regenerated against the live site as part of the next build review.
The short version
IRC uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which do not. Nothing else. No advertising trackers, no remarketing pixels, no third-party heatmap or session-replay tools. GA4 only loads if you click Accept on the cookie consent banner. If you click Reject, GA4 is not loaded at all.
What GA4 sets, if you have accepted
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users for GA4 | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Persists session state for GA4 | 2 years |
irc_consent | Remembers your consent choice so we do not nag you on every page | 12 months |
Google publishes their own documentation on what GA4 does with this data: see the GA4 cookie usage and Google privacy policy.
If you change your mind
Click the small Cookies link in the footer of any page to bring the consent banner back up. Click Reject. The next page load will not include GA4. Existing GA4 cookies in your browser will expire on the schedule above; you can also delete them in your browser settings.
Other things that are not on the site
No Facebook pixel. No LinkedIn Insight Tag on the public site. No advertising network. No third-party comment widget. No third-party social-share widgets that drop their own cookies (share buttons are simple links).
If we add anything
If IRC ever adds another analytics or marketing tool, we will update this page and re-prompt for consent before the new tool loads for you.
