If you joined IRC between 2017 and 2019, attended IR17, IR18 or IR19, or used the playbooks back in the day: welcome back. The community has relaunched, everything you remember is still here, and picking your membership back up takes a minute.
IRC was founded in 2017 as a community-driven home for incident response: the open source playbooks, the document library, and three conferences in three years with hundreds of practitioners in the room. After IR19 the community went quiet. A relaunch was announced in late 2024, and through 2026 it has actually happened.
A global community for education and incident response planning, organised around three Forums: a Practitioner Forum for the people who work incidents, a Boardroom Forum for the UK Chairs and NEDs who carry the consequences, and a Partners Forum for vetted IR firms. The community-generated model you knew is back at the centre: practitioners write, IRC curates and publishes under the author's name.
The operating model is disclosed openly: Outbreach, an incident response consultancy, is the founding operating partner and funds the relaunch. The full arrangement is on the partners disclosure page, in plain English.
Everything published since 2017 stays on the site: the Playbook Policy Engine with all nine incident playbooks, the document library, the blog back to the earliest posts, and full archives for IR17, IR18 and IR19 with the decks that survived. If you spoke at one of them, your talk is probably in there; if you have a deck we are missing, we would love it back.
Tell us who you are and the tier that fits you now. Open is the newsletter, Affiliate adds the full library and training access, and Practitioner Member is for people actively working IR who want to contribute. All three are free.
